Corporate HistoryDinyee was incorporated in 1976 pursuant to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) passed by Congress on December 18, 1971. ANCSA provided 44 million acres of land and $962.5 million to settle the aboriginal land claims of the Alaska Native people. As a result, thirteen regional corporations and over 200 village corporations were formed to manage the land and cash proceeds on behalf of and for the long-term benefit of their Alaska Native shareholders.Dinyee is one of the village corporations in the Interior of Alaska and is within the Doyon region. At the time of incorporation, there were 169 original Dinyee enrollees (or shareholders) who were each issued 100 shares of Class A common stock with voting rights; which resulted in a total amount of 16,900 outstanding shares. Today through inheritance and gifting of shares from original enrollees there are 184 shareholders. The Corporation is governed by a nine member board elected by shareholders to serve three-year terms. Dinyee owns and manages 126,000 acres of land and has been engaged in many commercial activities. Today Dinyee is a holding company comprised of the following subsidiaries: River Villages, Inc., Alaska Reclamation, Inc., RVI Management, and Arctic Contractors LLC.
River Villages, Inc.River Villages, Inc. (RVI) was incorporated in 1979 by several interior village corporations that included Dinyee Corporation. RVI was initially involved in construction under Interior General Contractors (IGC) and was in a culinary and housekeeping joint venture that serviced several pipeline camps. In 1981, Dinyee acquired the balance of RVI outstanding stock and it became entirely Dinyee owned. In 1995, RVI developed a working and training relationship with Alyeska Pipeline Service Company that continues to this day. Alyeska was seeking to enhance its Oil Spill Responders workforce which fit in with Stevens Village, since it is located near the Trans Alaska Pipeline. We maintain a continuous contract with Alyeska to provide emergency oil spill response, associated services, and above ground maintenance.Dinyee became involved in tourism with the development of Yukon River Tours in 1990. While in operation during the 1990’s, tours were given of the fish camp and cultural museum at Woodward Camp, a traditional use area six miles upriver from the Yukon River Bridge. The area was served by Dinyee’s two boats, one of which was the 44 foot, 40 passenger “Yookene Explorer”.
